Examinations

All students will sit final examinations in their core and options subjects at the end of Year 11. However, many of these courses are modular in nature and involve external examinations and other assessed tasks throughout years 10 and 11. Some courses are assessed entirely through coursework. In some cases students may sit exams early.

Sixth Form students will sit exams at the end of year 12 and Year 13. Many students will also have exams in January. Some Sixth Form courses are continually assessed. Students are guided to embark on courses which will allow them to progress from their level of ability. Provided they are able to complete a course of study, they will therefore normally be entered for the exam. All decisions on exam entry are made in discussion with students and their parents.
