Sex Education

The Governors have adopted a policy on Sex Education which has the following aims:

  1. To provide knowledge of the facts concerning the physical development of adolescents and the sexual tranmission of life.
  2. To foster understanding of the religious, moral, emotional and social implications of the above for the individual, the family and the community.
  3. To lead pupils to the fullest possible understanding of personal relationships within family life and beyond.
  4. To present the Church’s teaching on all aspects of human sexuality.
  5. To give young people the opportunity to explore their feelings, attitudes and values, and to help them to approach their responsibilities with regard to their developing maturity and to examine how they should control their emotions and instincts; to assist them to make responsible choices, based on sound factual knowledge and Christian principles.

The programme of sex education is delivered by several subject areas but primarily Religious Education, PSHE & Citizenship, and Science.
